About the Race

History

For over 40 years, the Idyllwild 5K/10K has been a beloved tradition, bringing runners together in the heart of the San Jacinto Mountains. Organized by the Idyllwild Race Committee (501c3), this event has raised and donated over $70,000 to support local youth athletics—funding everything from a scoreboard and PE equipment to a full fitness lab for students.

After a hiatus following the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re bringing the race back—stronger than ever. Now, in partnership with the Idyllwild Community Center (ICC), proceeds from this event will continue to uplift our town, supporting programs that foster health, recreation, and community engagement.

Join us as we revive this tradition and run for a stronger Idyllwild!

A New Course, Same Iconic Mountain Experience

This year, we’re introducing a brand-new course while keeping the heart of the race in the center of town. Runners can choose from three exciting events:

5K & 10K Races – Challenge yourself on a scenic, high-altitude course through the beautiful mountain roads of Idyllwild.

Kids’ Fun Run – A fun and exciting way for the next generation of runners to join in on race day!

Get ready for breathtaking views, fresh mountain air, and an unforgettable run in one of Southern California’s most scenic race destinations!

In memory of Rosie Schutte

Rosie Schutte was an important part of the new generation of Race Committee volunteers who helped bring the Idyllwild Race back to life. She brought energy, determination and a genuine desire to make a difference for Idyllwild and its youth. Rosie was someone who showed up, pitched in and helped turn an idea into something our community could be proud of again. Her sudden passing leaves a tremendous hole in our race family and throughout Idyllwild. This year, we dedicate the Idyllwild 5K & 10K to Rosie, with gratitude for everything she gave to the race and our community. We will miss her deeply, and we will carry her spirit with us every step of the way.
